Dr. Berenguer offers baseline assessment services for both younger and older adults, for differing purposes. A baseline assessment can be completed to:
1) Serve as a personal benchmark from which future re-assessments can be compared. This can allow for one’s cognition to be monitored over time, including in relation to earlier detection of possible decline and/or changes.
2) Understand someone’s unique cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well as determine specific strategies to optimize one’s overall thinking.
Examples of reasons why someone may wish to pursue baseline testing:
- Family history of dementia/Alzheimer’s disease
- Increased risk for cognitive decline later in life (e.g., prior history of seizures, head injury, academic/learning difficulties)
- Prior to engaging in a high-risk activity (e.g., football, military participation)
