Dr. Jessie Berenguer is a board certified adult and geriatric neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist who is licensed in Tennessee. She is the founding owner of Neuropsychology Associates, PLLC, and has been in practice in Nashville since 2013. She is also on the medical staff at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital of Franklin where she provides neuropsychological assessment, counseling, and education services to individuals with a variety of neurologically-related diagnoses and presentations (e.g, stroke, traumatic brain injury) and their families.
In relation to formal training, Dr. Berenguer completed graduate coursework consistent with the Houston Conference Guidelines. Her doctorate from St. John’s University in New York City includes a specialization in clinical adult psychology, and she also regularly worked with children and adolescents throughout her graduate and post-graduate studies. Following her doctorate Dr. Berenguer completed fellowship training in neuropsychology focusing on dementia assessment at the Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University Medical Center, followed by a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Connecticut. Throughout her fellowship training Dr. Berenguer worked with adult and geriatric patients presenting with a variety of medical and psychiatric conditions, as well as children and adolescents demonstrating developmental delays, attentional and learning disabilities, and mood and behavioral difficulties. Additional areas of experience include forensic and clinical assessment of severe and persistent forms of mental illness, as well as evaluation and treatment of drug and alcohol addiction, childhood, adolescent and adult trauma, and treatment of a wide range of mood and personality disorders. Prior to graduate school, she worked as a research assistant at a sensory systems laboratory at the University of Virginia, as well as an radiation oncology research lab at Columbia University.
Dr. Berenguer has presented at a number of national and international conferences on a wide variety of topics, including in relation to cognitive reserve and performance predictors in Huntington’s disease, structural imaging correlates of verbal fluency deficits and neurodegeneration, functional imaging and pathological gambling, and the psychometric utility of item response theory in various psychological measures. She has supervised graduate students in neuropsycholgical assessments, taught didactics on a number of topics to medical students and residents, and has given various talks to community audiences. Dr. Berenguer is a member of various local, national, and international associations, such as the Tennessee Psychological Association and American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology.
When she is not in the office, Dr. Berenguer enjoys spending time in Nashville with her family, as well as spinning class and attempting to cook.
